[ Peridot whines, and gives Lapis the biggest, most heart melting puppy dog eyes she can muster. She's cold and Lapis is NOT being understanding of her condition and it's bumming her out!!! ]
[ Its 'how to droop your dragon' o'clock right now, because she's just kind of sagging pathetically in Lapis's hands.
Or... Well, it seems like Peridot is putting on her longest, most determined guilt trip ever, complete with the watery eyes, crumpled up expression and hiccuping breaths... BUT THEN. ALL OF A SUDDEN. She convulses, twists her head to the side, and-- ]
NyaaaaaaaaaAAACHOO!!!
[ ...Lets out a MASSIVE sneeze. Flecks of acid spit sizzle onto the floor. The dragon sags with relief, sniffling lightly as she turns back to Lapis. ]
What?! But I've been asleep for a literal month. And you only just got here!
[ Peridot's tiny little dragon body is gripped in a surge of abandonment panic. She can only assume that Lapis is getting up to leave her now. Like, what else could she be doing? ]
Defeated, droops her ears and flops down with her head on her paws. Her thoughts drift back to a scene from an episode, an image of Paulette spooning soup into a bed-ridden Percy's mouth. The presence of Paulette there is less than ideal, but the general idea of it... ]
They fed me earlier... Though, I appreciate where your instincts are at. [ She sounds wistful. Defeated. She sighs and gives Lapis the pleading eyes again, though they're less animal in this case, and more just. Classic Peridot being Peridot: Earnest and naturally adorable. ]
[Lapis gives Peridot a look, slightly bemused at her effect on Peridot? Or rather just.. how much she's wanted. It's a nice feeling! Weird, foreign, but she'll get used to it. She knows she will.
Especially since Peridot is laying It On Thick, emotionally anyway.
She lifts her hand and reaches over to muse the top of her head a bit as she gets on the bed.]
Peridot gives her a protesting grunt over the mussing, to try and save face, but. Notably, she also chases the hand with the top of her head when Lapis starts to pull it away.
As soon as Lapis is sitting down, Peridot shuffling right up next to her, curling up to be in direct contact with her... Without clambering all over her this time, of course. ]
I know, but... You were going to leave because of something I did.
[ She blinks up at her, frowning sadly. She's still cat sized right now, and hopefully Lapis doesn't mind too much if she rests her chin on her leg, so she can peer up at her without having to strain her neck. ]
Lapis... You can trust me. I want you to trust me.
[ Maybe that's an odd sentiment, out of place in this moment. She just wants her to open up about what she's thinking, though? Just a little. ]
I do! [She says, frantically almost at first in a burst.] I do. It's.. It's just so hard to get used to things here, you know? It's still just... Me being me. I'm trying really hard though, you know?
[ Peridot's ears flick in surprise at the intensity in her reply. But at her further explanation, her instinct is to share sympathy she has for Lapis and her situation, doing her best to make it known over the force of their bond. ]
I know you are. [ She gives her an encouraging little smile to boot. ] I can feel it every time you do.
[Lapis shuffles slightly, just enough that she can put her face in her hand.]
I know that. And I know it's silly to be like this still, even after I tried so hard to change. [It's the same old thing she's just been telling herself over and over again, and it's still just as frustrating.]
I just want things to be alright for once, you know? It feels like.. the moment I get used to something, it changes on me.
[ Peridot listens attentively, her sympathy for Lapis only increasing. It makes her feel pretty scummy, personally, not being able to give her what she needs.
Suddenly, she laughs awkwardly. ]
Well, hey... Aaaaat least you've still got me!
[ You know. The joke being that, she has changed? Significantly? She strikes a little pose and flares out her wings to accentuate the dragon-ness. ]
[ Peridot makes a protesting noise but allows herself to be shoved over, dramatically rolling into her back with all her limbs in the air before devolving into horrible nasally snickering. ]
[Well, this is the second time Peridot has been able to shift her mood to something lighter, so at least there's that. In the house she would have just... absolutely brooded.]

[Scooped up, again! And lifted.] Don't make this weird, Peridot.
[It gives her weird feelings that she doesn't want to confront, thanks!]

Look, you can sit beside me, but being on me is more than I'm comfortable with.

[Please! Lapis is bad at being supportive! And she doesn't know what to do about how she's feeling right now, which just makes everything even worse.]

Okayyyyy. Fiiiiiiiiiine.

[But, all the same, Peridot is being dropped onto the bed, and Lapis is standing.]
Maybe you should rest more, because you're probably not going to get better staying awake like this.

Please, Peridot. Lapis is Doing Her Best to be supportive!]
Yeah, but obviously you aren't feeling better. [She pauses, making a face.] Should I get you some soup? That's how it always gets solved on CPH.

Please don't leave...

And then she sighs, shoulders slumping slightly as she shakes her head.]
Fine, but if you crawl all over me I'm going back home.
[So scooch over, Peridot. Lapis is getting back on the bed for you.]
no subject
YAY! Thank you Lapis, and don't worry, I'll restrain myself, promise!
[ She hadn't even realized how afraid she was of Lapis leaving, until the threat of it was lifted. Now it's just all relief. ]

It's not like I'd be leaving forever, you know.

She feels guilty.]
It's.. not anything you did, though. It's just me.
[Her being her. She's trying to go about things, trying to pretend that things are fine and they really... aren't.]
no subject
Yeah, but you were reacting to something that I did. We're bonded now... We probably need to be able to talk to each other about this... This stuff.
[ Emotional stuff. ]

I... guess? [She sounds a bit strained.] Sorry, it's not really anything new, though.

[Bad joke, but at least the sheer ridiculousness of that statement isn't lost on her, and for it, Peridot gets a tiny, but at least playful shove.]

Yeah. You've definitely changed.
