[He asks her on her private channel. He's pretty sure Peridot might be wrestling her right now, but it's good to be sure.]

No. [Comes Lapis' reply a few minutes later. It seems that Peridot was able to successfully wrangle her away from murdering Strange.

Jasper's intrusion probably helped too.]

I hate this place. [She sounds tired. Upset.] I want to go home.

[starseedling]

[Well... he's not going to argue with that. Instead, his voice takes on a softer, sympathetic tone.]

I'm sorry... can I come find you?

[mirrortide]

I guess. [She could use Steven's company, to be honest? But she does want to be alone at the same time. It's weird.]

[starseedling]

Okay.

[He'll take 'I guess', for the moment.]

[It takes him a little while to find her, because he wasn't actually sure where she was. He assumed somewhere near her trailer in the Supervisor Grove. Otherwise, he'll be generally flapping around by wing, looking for high up places. Those are usually her favourite spots.]

[It's true, and right now in particular Lapis is on the tallest thing she can find. Right now? That's on top of the currently non-functioning Ferris Wheel.

She doesn't actually say hi when Steven lands next to her, she's too busy looking up at the stars, arms wrapped loosely around her knees.

For once, her changes are visible, and the big thick tail she's sporting is draped off the side of the car.]

[Steven is hesitant to approach, but he does it anyway. With a flutter of his wings, he floats himself down onto the Ferris Wheel cart, looking uncertain. Soon, though, he tries to cover that up with a quiet laugh, hoping to break the ice.]

I think I'm actually starting to get the hang of flying! [She's probably distracted, but he just sort of talks anyway, with no serious intent or need to be heard.] But... I guess my floating powers might be cheating a little bit, huh...

[Hey Steven? Guess what! It's hug time with your best pal Lapis Lazuli! Though it's more her that needs the comfort than him, at this moment.]

I can help teach you, if you want. [Anything for Steven! And besides, flying is one of the things she does best.]

[Aw man, Steven is always down for hug time with Lapis. It feels a little different with her changes revealed - not that he minds.]

Really? That would be so cool! You're the best flier I know.

[The best long distance flier, for sure. He doesn't know anybody else who literally flew to another solar system.]

[If she knew she'd absolutely use her shape shifting ability to change back into her normal looks. Unfortunately, Steven doesn't speak up.]

Of course, Steven. [She gives a smile.] I tried to teach Peridot awhile back too, but I don't think she got it very well. [Lapis punctuates her sentence with a small laugh. Yeah, Peridot ended up crashing to the floor a few times, so Steven is already miles ahead of her being able to do it on his own.]

[Steven definitely doesn't want her to feel like she has to change for him, in either direction. If she's happier hiding her fae changes, he understands - but having tried to change himself over an extended period, he knows how hard it can be.]

Eh, I think being able to float gives me an unfair advantage! I'm pretty much crash proof... if I remember to do it, anyway, haha.

[He nuzzles his face against her a little, because sometimes one just can't keep the furry at bay.]

[It's true, one just can't deny the inner furry sometimes.

Lapis nuzzles Steven back, and there's a low rumbling as she does.]

It is kind of cheating. But it's probably easier to get the hang of it when you don't land on your face.

Yeah, haha! But I wanna learn how to do dives and stuff - like falling all stylishly and then pulling up at the last second! Falling slow is easy, I wanna learn how to fall fast.

[He's glad that she seems a little happier. She's still bound to be full of the same old stresses, but... not having to feel alone is important, right?]

Well... I guess I could teach you that. [Though the entire point of flying is... not falling and then having to pull up at the last second! But sure, if Steven wants to, then she'll do that.]

Though if you wanted to just fall fast you should just stop your floating powers.

[starseedling]

Yeah... but then I just hit the ground and hurt my face. [Look, falling like he's describing is actually really cool, she's clearly just got to see what he means.]

I guess the idea is that you bring out your wings at the last second so you swoop like this!

[He gestures with his hands in way of example.]

So, if a spaceship was chasing you, it wouldn't swoop as good, and it'd hit the ground - bested by your superior tactics!

A space ship shouldn't be chasing you to begin with, Steven. [though. Lapis now knows you've seriously pissed of Homeworld so??

Maybe he should get better at flying for dodging. At least that way he won't get hurt.]

We should probably ask Peridot to make some drones to help you learn how to dodge in the first place.

[Steven, of course, meant that mostly in abstract fictional terms - like, wouldn't it be cool if this scene from a movie basically happened. Of course, it shouldn't be surprising that Lapis is taking it more literally.

He frowns slightly, contemplative more than disagreeable.]

Like... to shoot at me and stuff?

I guess that sounds reasonable! I've dodged spears a bunch while sparring with Pearl's clones, but I've never done it while flying!

[He puts his hands to his cheeks.]

It's still so cool that I can do this now! It's like super jumping but better!
